City stabbing case sent to grand jury

The case against a Marietta man accused of stabbing a stranger has been bound over to the grand jury.

Ronald W. Fisher, 38, of 715 Greene St. appeared at a preliminary hearing at Marietta Municipal Court Wednesday. He did not testify, said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Alison Cauthorn.

Fisher was arrested Jan. 8 after he showed up at 833 Second St., the home of William Williams. According to the statement of facts, Fisher pounded on the door until let in, stabbed Williams, apologized, and fled.

Williams told officers he had never seen Fisher prior to that night.

Fisher admitted to responding officers that he had stabbed Williams, said Cauthorn.

Fisher was initially charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Now it will be up to the grand jury to decide if he is indicted on that charge, she said.

It is not certain if his case will be heard by the grand jury this month, said Cauthorn.

Fisher is being held in Washington County Jail on $35,000 bond.
