Vienna woman dies in head-on W.Va. 2 crash
PARKERSBURG -Sharon Mortensen, 59, of Vienna, W.Va., died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on West Virginia 2 near Deerwalk Highway in Wood County around 6 p.m. Monday, officials said.
The head-on collision occurred just north of Wood County 31 on W.Va. 2 around 6 p.m., Wood County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mortensen was driving southbound in a 2006 Toyota Corolla when she collided with a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker driven by Codi Norman, 25, of Mineral Wells, the sheriff’s office said. Abby Little, 23, of Mineral Wells and a 3-month-old child were passengers in the Chevy Tracker.
The sheriff’s office said Little sustained serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Charleston after being taken to Camden Clark Medical Center by ambulance. Her condition was unavailable Monday night.
Norman and the 3-month-old child were treated and released from CCMC with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
The cause of the accident, is under investigation.
