Boaz man OK after shooting

BOAZ, W.Va. – A Wood County man is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered early Monday morning.

According to the Wood County Sheriff Department’s Chief Law Enforcement Deputy Shawn Graham, 26-year-old Donald Wilson of Boaz was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center as a result of what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Graham said deputies were called to 2134 Kellar Lane around 2:30 a.m. Monday, where deputies found Wilson with a gunshot wound to the abdomen area. Graham said a search of the house was conducted and officers received a .25 caliber pistol as well as drug paraphernalia.

Wilson was not alone at the time of the incident and Graham said initial reports indicated the wound was self-inflicted and could have been accidental.

“The incident remains under investigation,” Graham said.

Wilson was listed in good condition at Camden Clark.

Graham said officers have visited the address on previous occasions. According to the department’s Facebook page, Wilson was arrested Feb. 7 for failure to appear and for warrants for driving on suspension, second offense, and battery of police officer, and obstructing official business.
