Driver of stolen vehicle hurt in crash
A Belpre resident driving a stolen vehicle was involved in a single-car crash Wednesday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a vehicle accident on Congress Road shortly before 8 p.m.
As the responding deputy was nearing the accident, a woman on Congress Street flagged him down to say the man in the crash had just stolen her car out of the driveway, said Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks.
Jodi Ruth, 46, of 3281 Barth Road, Belpre, reported that the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer had just been stolen out of the driveway as she was visiting with friends at the 625 Congress Road residence, said Mincks.
Brandon S. Enoch, 22, of 819 Congress Road, allegedly stole the car out of his neighbors’ driveway, peeled out and only made it a couple hundred yards before leaving the roadway at a high rate of speed and crashing into a tree, said Mincks.
Enoch suffered a chest laceration and multiple broken bones and was transported to the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, W.Va.
When his medical condition allows, Enoch will be charged with vehicle theft.
It was not immediately known if Enoch was impaired, said Mincks.
