Around town for April 20

Beverly Leos Club youth fundraiser

The Muskingum Valley Leos will host the “Taste of Beverly Waterford” from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the small gym at Fort Frye High School. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. More than 20 local businesses, community service organizations and independent vendors will be at the event. There will be door prizes, cash and carry purchase opportunities and a silent auction. The Muskingum Valley Leos are the youth branch of the Beverly Lions Club. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to local police/fire and rescue and the flower beds at the Oliver Tucker Museum, Pilot Dogs (guide dogs for the blind) and other community needs.

Zumba classes offered at Betsey

Zumba Toning classes with Instructor Shauna Cornwell will begin a five-week session April 30. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in the Betsey Mills Club gymnasium. To reserve a spot, call 373-4981.

Bird Walks will be held around town

Marietta City Bird Walks Spring 2013, sponsored by the Marietta Natural History Society, will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays on the following days in April and May. The leader will be Brad Bond.

Tuesday: Kroger Wetland (meet in Acme Street parking lot).

April 30: KrisMar Woods (meet in parking area off Hillcrest behind Tractor Supply).

May 7: Oak Grove Cemetery (meet at Wooster Street entrance).

May 14: Kroger Wetland (meet in Acme Street parking lot).

Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Binoculars would be useful, but are not necessary.

Ewing pool open for arthritis classes

The Ewing School pool will be reopening for warm water arthritis classes on Tuesday. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Class times are 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The cost is $2 per person.

Ewing School also offers open swim from 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays. This swim time is open to the public and the cost is $2 per person.
