Man’s shooting death is being investigated
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a shooting death of a Dunham Township man late Friday night.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said 61-year-old Marvin B. Lanham, of 1148 Barnett Ridge Road, died of a gunshot wound to the head. Police received the call to that residence about 10:40 p.m.
“Right now it’s a death investigation because we’re not sure if it was self-inflicted or not,” Mincks said shortly before midnight.
Before Lanham’s death there was a party going on at the home, Mincks said.
“It was some kind of card party and there was a lot of drinking and there was some kind of argument involving this man,” he said. “He went outside, then the other guy went outside and everyone heard a gunshot.”
The gun was “laying nearby” when the partygoers came outside, Mincks said.
Officers were conducting gunshot residue tests on those in attendance at the party and taking witness statements Friday night, said the sheriff.
