Injuries from wreck kill area resident

A Stockport man, one of three men involved in a single-vehicle accident May 1, has died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to a report filed Sunday by the Marietta Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Daniel W. Bywater, 47, died at Grant Medical Center over the weekend. The exact time and date of his death was not available.

Bywater was the driver of a 2000 Kia Sportage that was northbound on Ohio 83 in Morgan County Wednesday when Bywater lost control of the Kia which overturned, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Passengers in the vehicle included Robert Moore, 60, of Stockport, and Charles Schwab Jr., 51, of McConnelsville.

Schwab was treated and released at the scene, but Bywater and Moore were both transported to Grant Medical Center. Moore was apparently later released as he was not listed as a patient at the hospital Sunday.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident, but reported that none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts, and alcohol and speed are considered likely factors in the crash.
