River Rendezvous draws bicyclists

More than 200 bicyclists are expected on Marietta’s streets this weekend as the Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club sponsors the 31st annual Marietta River Rendezvous.

Riders begin early Saturday morning in Duncan Falls for the scenic 65-mile tour through the Muskingum River Valley to Marietta. They should begin arriving in Marietta around 10:30 am.

The cyclists – from Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Parkersburg and elsewhere in the tri-state area – stay in both Marietta College residence halls and local hotels and motels. They eat at the First Baptist Church, tour the Muskingum and Ohio rivers on the Valley Gem, explore Marietta and Harmar before arising early Sunday morning for the return trip to Duncan Falls on Sunday.

Motorists are asked be aware that the cyclists will be on both the east and west sides of the Muskingum River throughout the weekend.

For information or to register for one or two days of the Marietta River Rendezvous: Kitty and John Clark, (304) 375-2302.
