Pizza eating contest for a good cause
The Original Pizza Place in Marietta is holding a “Man vs. Pizza Charity Challenge” at 5 p.m. June 15 in the Parking Partners lot on Second Street in Marietta. Representatives of the Marietta Police and Fire departments, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Williamstown and Devola volunteer fire departments will compete to raise money for community organizations. Whoever can eat a large, 12-slice Sicilian pepperoni pizza first in 30 minutes or less will earn a donation the charity of their choice. Customers can contribute money to their favorite competitor starting Monday at the Original Pizza Place in Marietta, with those donations also going to the individual’s selected charity. The event will also include music and Italian desserts.
Recycle electronics at Frontier event
The Frontier Local school district will hold an electronics recycling week starting Monday. To drop off items, go to the front lobby of any school. Each school will have several large boxes inside the lobby for this purpose. Help unloading items will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Newport Elementary School, Tuesday at Lawrence Elementary School, Wednesday at New Matamoras Elementary School and Thursday at Frontier High & Middle School. Among the items accepted are computers, monitors, TVs, cell phones, MP3 players, laptops, printers, surge protectors, cables and wires, scanners, fax machines, telephone systems, VCR and DVD players, CD and cassette players, video game consoles, batteries (selected), digital cameras (selected), mobile computers, radios (selected) and typewriters. Household appliances won’t be accepted.

Ice cream social for Little Muskingum VFD
The Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual ice cream social at 4 p.m. June 15. There will be a country store, live music by Picking on Country, food and games.
Blood drive in Cutler area Tuesday
The American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, in the multi-purpose room. Anyone at least 17 years old who meets weight and height requirements and is in generally good health may be eligible to give blood.
