Sentence delayed until baby arrives
A Marietta woman accused of repeatedly assaulting her husband was sentenced Thursday in Washington County Common Pleas Court to 90 days in the Washington County Jail.
Jerrianne K. Myers, 20, of 110 Browns Alley, was ordered to be booked into the jail Thursday. However, as Myers is pregnant, she was to be released the same day so she can have her child outside of jail.
The jail is not properly equipped to handle a birth, noted Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Rings.
Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Randall Burnworth ordered Myers to report back to the jail Jan. 6 to serve the remainder of her sentence.
If she fails to return, she will be guilty of an escape, which would land Myers in prison for three years on the current charge and add an additional felony charge, said Burnworth.
Myers pleaded guilty July 26 to a third-degree felony count of domestic violence for assaulting her husband. Myers already had two prior domestic violence convictions for assaulting the man in January 2012 and April 2012, elevating the most recent charge to a felony.
Myers was also sentenced to three years of community control sanctions.
