Man’s bond is revoked
A Marietta man accused of breaking onto the Valley Gem and stealing metal for scrap had his bond revoked Wednesday in Washington County Common Pleas Court for allegedly committing a new theft offense.
Brent Deeter, 34, of 104 Washington St., is awaiting an Oct. 15 trial on two fifth-degree felony charges of theft and breaking and entering. Deeter was seen in surveillance photos entering the Valley Gem boat on June 17 and stealing a variety of metal items.
He had posted a $2,500 bond on each of the two charges and was out on that bond when he allegedly committed another theft offense. Sometime in September, Deeter reportedly stole numerous weights used by Triad Hunter in drilling operations, said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Jared Erb.
Deeter allegedly sold the metal weights as scrap at area scrap facilities, he added.
Deeter will face an additional fifth-degree felony theft charge and fifth-degree felony breaking and entering charge for the new offense.
