Belpre woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A Belpre woman died Monday night and two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Adams Township.

Alisha Hurst, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene on Washington County 56 after she apparently failed to negotiate a sharp curve around 10:14 p.m., according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marietta post. Hurst was driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla that went off the road and down an embankment before striking a rock and coming to rest on its top in a shallow creek.

The patrol’s release says alcohol and/or drugs may have played a part in the crash.

Also injured were Hurst’s husband, 27-year-old Tucker Hurst, and their 3-year-old daughter. Both were taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, the release says.

The crash remains under investigation.
