Big rig tips over

BELPRE – A tractor-trailer ended up on its side Monday afternoon on the off ramp from the Blennerhassett Island Bridge in Ohio just outside of Belpre.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. The cause of the accident was still under investigation Monday night, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene and the incident was being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Marietta post.

The off ramp was closed until the truck could be removed. Traffic was rerouted onto Ohio 7/32.

The truck was being driven by Michael Hartwick of Missouri, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Additional information from the Marietta post was unavailable Monday night.

Information on the type of cargo the truck was carrying was unavailable.

The truck had markings identifying it as being part of FTS Transportation Services in Charleston, Mo.

An official who answered the telephone in the company’s safety office declined to comment on the situation, saying he did not have information about the incident and wanted to wait until he knows more before issuing a statement. He said the company might have something to report in a couple of days.

The condition of the driver was not known at press time.
