Additional flu shots are available
The Marietta City Health Department has received an additional 20 doses of flu vaccine and will give them on Tuesday. These limited doses of flu vaccine will be given on a first come, first served basis. The cost for the vaccine is $25. Medicare, Ohio Medicaid and most insurances are accepted. The health department will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

County finance committee to meet
The finance committee of Washington County will meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Assembly Room at 223 Putnam St. in Marietta. The purpose of this public meeting is to review the financial condition of the county at and through Dec. 31.
Electrical outage planned in Leith Run
An interruption in electric service will occur Tuesday in the Leith Run area, affecting Washington Electric Cooperative members served by the circuit that crosses County Road 138 to Leith Run. The outage, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last about one hour, will allow crews to repair a broken cross arm that caused the unplanned outage on Jan. 13. Those affected by that outage will likely be affected by this brief interruption. If weather prevents this work, the rain date is Wednesday, also at 9:30 a.m.
Programs for homeschoolers available
The Beverly Public Library and the Washington County Extension, 4-H Youth Development Program are partnering to offer school enrichment programs for homeschoolers in the Beverly/Waterford area. School-aged children are welcome. Sessions will be held on these dates: Feb. 14, March 7, April 10 and May 16. All sessions will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the meeting room of the library.

Wildlife refuge program on owls
Mike Williams will lead the hands-on program “Looking into Owl Pellets” at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at 3982 Waverly Road, Williamstown. The program will explore what an owl eats and the contents of an owl pellet and is for all ages.
