Marietta police investigating child’s death
The Marietta Police Department is investigating the death of a 3-year-old Vienna boy who died Thursday night at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Marietta Police Capt. Jeff Waite would not elaborate on the investigation saying only that the boy’s body has been sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s for an autopsy.
“We have to wait on forensics, autopsy results, and see what we find on the investigation,” he said.
Waite declined to say if the death was suspicious in nature or if it is being investigated as a homicide.
He confirmed that no one has been arrested in connection with the death.
It is standard procedure for the police to investigate all unattended deaths, meaning those that occur when the individual has not been under the care of a physician, he said.
Waite declined to say if Vienna Police Department will assist with the investigation.
Police do not expect to release the boy’s name until at least next week, he said.
