Fur Ball fundraiser helps buy van for Humane Society

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley’s 11thannual “Fur Ball” dance and auction was held February 22, 2014 at the Shrine Club in Marietta, Ohio.

The goal of this year’s event was to raise enough funds to purchase a new van for the Humane Society.

With the strong support of our corporate sponsors, Triad Hunter, Peoples Bank, Dr. William Cline and Ron and Louise Holmes, , the volunteers that donated their time and money, donations from other businesses and individuals, as well as the 400 plus people that attended this event we were able to exceed this goal.

With the help of Jim Cobb, C & C Dodge Toyota, we were able to purchase a slightly used 2012 van for the shelter’s use. This van will replace a 2006 Ford van with over 200,000 miles. This van is used for transporting animals to various rescue groups and to transport animals to and from vet appointments. This new van enables the shelter to have reliable transportation to continue to care for and seek permanent homes for more than 3,500 lost, abused or abandoned dogs and cats each year.

Without the community support, this would not have been possible.
