Suspect in Stockport bank robbery sought

Stockport’s First National Bank was robbed Wednesday morning by a masked suspect with a weapon.

According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the male suspect entered and exited through the front door of the bank sometime shortly after 11 a.m. He got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect, who was captured by security footage, is described as a white male, six-feet tall, wearing a camouflage jacket, jeans, black shoes, and a black toboggan as a mask.

The release did not specify how much money was taken or what type of weapon was used. The bank referred all questions to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, which did not return calls seeking comment Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office is investigation the robbery with the assistance of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Athens office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
