3 men arrested out of heroin discovery

Two area men and another from Zanesville have been charged with trafficking in heroin after a Tuesday search of a Marietta home.

According to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a routine check of a probationer’s home by Probation Officer Eric Brockmeier led to the discovery of heroin paraphernalia and ultimately to a large amount of heroin.

Detectives and agents of the Major Crimes Task Force subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant for the home of Corey Cowan, 23, at 530 Millgate Road, Marietta. Inside the home, officers found syringes, two digital scales and a large box of sandwich bags, along with heroin that was packaged for sale and a larger chunk of heroin. In total, 26 grams of heroin were seized from the home, according to the release.

Also present at the residence were Jermaine S. Green, 33, of 1093 Beverly Ave., Zanesville, and his brother, Jeremy B. Green, 33, of Tadpole Run Road, Belpre. Jeremy was recently released from federal probation and was arrested twice in Washington County for drug trafficking. He was en route to sentencing for a previous trafficking conviction when he was arrested again for drug trafficking, according to the sheriff’s office.

All three suspects admitted using heroin at the residence and acknowledged knowing the heroin was at the home, said the release. Consequently, the three suspects were arrested on a second-degree felony charge of trafficking in heroin. All three suspects were being held without bond pending their initial court appearance today.
