Bank robbery suspect nabbed

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a bank robber moments after the crime Friday.

The suspect’s identity isn’t being revealed by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office,

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a man entered Citizen’s National Bank on Main Street in McConnelsville shortly after 11 a.m.

“The robber entered the bank through the front door and showed a weapon,” said a sheriff’s office press release.

The man demanded money and access to the bank vault. He left through the front door with an undetermined amount of cash but was apprehended after a brief foot chase in downtown McConnelsville. According to the release, citizens in teh area assisted in the man’s arrest.

The robbery comes just over a month after an armed man robbed a Stockport bank. First National Bank was robbed March 26, and the suspect, a white male, got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

Morgan County Sheriff Tom Jenkins did not return calls seeking comment Friday.
