Free Comic Book Day Saturday

Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, and Asylum Comics, at 266 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, will be giving away a free comic book to anyone who stops by from 11 a.m. 7 p.m. that Saturday. There will be free face painting, a visit from costumed superheroes, and other kid-friendly activities.

Those who bring a canned food item or donate $1 to the Tri-County Food Pantry receive an extra free comic.

This annual event began in 2002 to bring more people to local comic book shops. Comic books are an original American art form, created in the early days of the 20th century. Shops in Canada and other countries celebrate Free Comic Book day, too. Different shops have different policies on how many free comic books you can receive, but you can get at least one for entering a participating location.
