New Mat Par Mar store robbed

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has developed suspects but is still investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning at Par Mar in New Matamoras.

A white male suspect entered the store around 1:15 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk, according to reports from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, a white male with a skinny build, was wearing black pants, a black hooded shirt, dark gloves, sunglasses, and a blue bandanna covering his face. He was wielding a small, shiny knife, possibly a pocket knife, according to the clerk’s description.

The store also has video footage of the suspect.

The clerk gave the suspect the contents of two cash drawers and an envelope sitting on top of the safe, $411 in total.

A sheriff’s office K9 did a track that led deputies to Parkway Townhomes on Williamson Avenue in New Matamoras, less than a third of a mile away.
