Workers ratify 3-year contract
A strike that started three weeks ago at International Converter in Caldwell has finally ended with workers ratifying a new three-year contract with the company.
The 57 workers, members of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Local Union 4826, agreed to a contract that will provide annual wage increases, gains in seniority and job security with no cuts in health care benefits.
Almost all workers at the company had been on strike since May 11.
The company and union were able to reach a tentative agreement May 30, with the agreement that it was subject to ratification by all members of the union.
Workers will return to their posts today.
