Muskingum River Road in Adams Township will be closed Friday nine-tenths of a mile above the Lowell Dam for culvert installation.

Safety Council will meet Wednesday
The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Marietta Shrine Club, 249 Pennsylvania Ave., Marietta. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at noon. The topic for the month is “An Inside Look at Safety in the Oil and Gas Industry” by Rhonda Reda, from the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program. Civil War Roundtable will meet July 17
The next regular meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of the Mid-Ohio Valley will be at 7 p.m. July 17. There will be a discussion on “Touched by Conflict – Southeastern Ohio and the Civil War” by Larry Strayer, Civil War collector and historian. The program will be held at the Campus Martius Museum, 601 Second St., Marietta. The public is welcome and there is no cost to attend.
Car show planned at Oak Grove rec center
The fourth annual Oak Grove Recreation Center Car Show will be held July 20 at 535 BF Goodrich Road, Marietta. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with awards at 3 p.m. There will be door prizes, concessions and a 50/50 drawing. The cost is $10 per car. Proceeds will benefit recreation center improvements.

Youth program at Wildlife Refuge
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a “Life on the Refuge” program for children ages 5-14 at 1 p.m. Saturday. Learn where animals live, what they eat and how they survive. This program includes a hike, games and a craft. The program will be held at the Visitor Center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown. Closed toe shoes are strongly recommended.
