Heroin bust nabs 2

Two area men were arrested early Wednesday morning for possession of heroin and methamphetamine as part of an ongoing investigation by the Major Crimes Task Force.

According to a report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, officers obtained and executed search warrants at two residences, one in Marietta and one in Lower Salem, as a result of hours of surveillance and multiple controlled purchases that lasted for several months.

Agents arrested Brian K. Streight, 47, of 221 S. Sixth St. in Marietta, and Randy A. Griffin, 60, of 25 McGrath Road in Lower Salem.

Task Force officers found that Griffin, believed to be a dealer, had obtained an ounce of heroin and provided two grams to Streight Tuesday, and a search of Griffin’s home turned up another 11.92 grams of heroin and 1.54 grams of methamphetamine, in addition to a stolen firearm.

Sheriff Larry Mincks said both men are repeat offenders for similar charges, and the agents have executed several search warrants on Streight’s residence in the past six months.

The search warrant executed on Streight’s home turned up heroin residue, packaging materials and money used to make earlier purchases of drugs.

According to Mincks, Streight was released after posting his $2,500 bond on one count of heroin possession, a fifth-degree felony.

Griffin remains incarcerated on a $37,500 bond after being arrested on one count of heroin possession, a second-degree felony, and one count of methamphetamine possession, a fifth-degree felony.
