Tips sought in Shadix break-in

Marietta police are looking for tips to nab a suspect who broke into Shadix TV Sales and Services in Marietta sometime overnight Monday.

The suspect apparently ignored the electronic equipment in the Montgomery Street business and instead focused on money from the cash register, said Marietta Police Capt. Jeff Waite.

“There was nothing taken other than the cash,” he said.

Business owner Jonathan Wheeler said the thieves possibly came in through a door which was inadvertently left unlocked by an employee.

“They ransacked the office, took about $500 in cash,” he said.

The suspect moved some of the televisions in the store around, but none of the TVs appeared to be missing, added Wheeler.

Police are still investigating the method of entry, said Waite. There are no signs of forced entry, he said.

Detectives were on scene Tuesday morning to dust for fingerprints and collect evidence.

Waite asked that anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between Monday evening and Tuesday morning contact the Marietta Police Department at 376-2007.
