Juvenile center escapee sought
From staff reports
Local authorities are looking for a teen who walked away from the Washington County Juvenile Center early Friday morning.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said 17-year-old Ace Staats, of Belpre, left the facility around 7 a.m.
Staats made a phone call from Rinky Dinks on Ohio 7 to a neighbor of his parents.
“Not knowing any better, the neighbor came and picked him up and dropped him off near his parents’ house,” said Mincks.
Staats is 5-foot-9-inches, 144 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing red sweat pants, a gray shirt and flip flops, said Mincks.
Staats is not a violent offender. He was detained for breaking and entering.
However, he is wanted for running away from a detainment facility and will likely be charged with being a fugitive, said Mincks.
