Welcome back teachers
WATERFORD-The aroma of fresh-cooked eggs and sausage wafted through the main hallway at Waterford Elementary School Monday morning as members of the Wolf Creek Local Board of Education served up their annual “welcome back” breakfast to the district’s teachers and other staffers.
“We came in around 6:15 a.m. and started preparing breakfast for everyone,” said board member Roger Doak.
Fellow board member Neil Huck said the breakfast, served on the first day of school for teachers and staff each year, has been an annual tradition for at least 20 years.
Following breakfast the board held its first regular meeting of the 2014-2015 school year, which begins today for students.
Items approved during the session included a one-year contract for Kaitlyn Stewart as an Intervention Specialist for the 2014-2015 year; approval of Laken Adams as a junior varsity volleyball coach and Cathy Forshey Bennet as junior high assistant volleyball coach; and approval of a $5,000 supplemental contract for JoAnn Welch as local district coordinator for the school year.
After the brief board session Wolf Creek Superintendent Bob Caldwell said everything is in place for students and staff to begin the new school year.
“We’re having some work completed on the roofs of both schools that will result in a 10-year extension of our roof warranty,” he said, noting the work is being done by K&W Roofing.
