World Day of Prayer planned for Friday

The 2017 World Day of Prayer will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Barlow United Methodist Church on Ohio 550. Lunch will be provided. All are welcome. World Day of Prayer is an ecumenical celebration of informed prayer and prayer action.

‘The Music Man’ opens on March 10

Marietta City Schools Music Department will present Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man.” The musical will be held at Marietta High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. March 10 and 11 and 2 p.m. March 12. Tickets are available weekdays through March 9 in the lobby of the Marietta High School auditorium. Ticket prices are $15 reserved center, $12 lower side reserved,and $10 general admission. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Spring Fling benefit for Ely Chapman

The Ely Chapman Education Foundation will hold its Spring Fling from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 25. There will be free books, an amusement park carnival and food including Loretta’s famous chicken and noodles. There will also be a bake sale and silent auction.

Waterford kindergarten registration March 6-10

Registration for Waterford Elementary kindergarten will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily the week of March 6-10. The child must be 5 before Aug. 1 to register. Parents should bring the child’s birth certificate, shot records, Social Security number and a custody paper if applicable. Children don’t need to be present for the registration. Screenings will be held April 24 and 25.

Thrift store in Vincent will have bag sale

The thrift store of the Western Washington County Food Pantry, 18 High St., Vincent, will be having a $2 bag sale from now until March 16. Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 1 to 4 and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The thrift store is for everyone.

Pancake meal at Cutler UMC on March 11

A pancake and sausage breakfast will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. March 11 at Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church, 11078 Veto Road, Belpre. Also included on the menu will be homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, toast, juice and coffee. Carryout meals are available. Free will offerings will be accepted.

River Trail closed during plant construction

Marietta’s River Trail is closed from E. Eighth Street behind the Waste Water Treatment Plant to Jefferson Street due to construction at the raw sewage pump station. Work is expected to be complete Oct. 20.
