Special to the Times

POMEROY — A Pomeroy man has been charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting another man with a bow and arrow.

According to a release from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified Friday evening of a man at the Holzer Meigs Emergency Department with an injury to the left side of his head-and-neck area. The victim, whose name was not released by the sheriff’s office, reported he’d been shot with a bow.

Deputies located the address where the incident happened, the residence of Russell Starcher at 43707 Pomeroy Pike Road, Pomeroy, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Patterson. Sheriff Keith Wood and Meigs County Prosecutor James Stanley elected to file felonious assault charges, with additional counts pending, the release said.

Agents from the Meigs/Gallia Major Crimes Task Force and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene and located evidence of the shooting, the release said. In addition, they reportedly discovered an indoor marijuana grow at the residence and heroin in the car of the victim.

The victim was flown to Grant Hospital in Columbus, where he was in stable condition Saturday, the release said.
