Halloween parade is Saturday downtown

The Marietta Noon Lions Halloween Parade will be held Oct. 28. Those participating should gather in the parking lot located at Third and Butler streets in Marietta. Judging begins at 11:30 a.m. Categories are funniest, scariest and most original. The parade starts promptly at noon and ends at Halloween in the Park.

Vendor/craft show to help Special Olympics

The second annual Washington County Special Olympics Vendor/Craft show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at Ewing School, 1701 Colegate Drive, Marietta. Along with the crafts and vendors there will also be a 50/50 drawing, raffles and concessions.

Fall book giveaway at Ely Chapman

The annual Ely Chapman Education Foundation Book Giveaway and Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4, at the Ely Chapman Education Center, 403 Scammel St. in Marietta. There will be thousands of free books, great homemade food and an indoor yard sale. To donate items to the indoor yard sale or for information, call 740-376-9533. Ely Chapman is a United Way Agency.

WCBDD will hold finance meeting Wed.

The Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be holding a board finance committee meeting at noon Wednesday at Ewing School, 1701 Colegate Drive, Marietta. All meetings of the WCBDD are open to the public.

Free lecture on Arab-Israeli War at WSCC

The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State Community College in collaboration with the Washington State Foundation and the Schwendeman Agency, Inc. announce a lecture by Terence Zuber entitled, “The 1967 Arab-Israeli War and Its Consequences 50 Years Later.” This free event will be Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Auditorium. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

Sewer repairs in Glendale Road area

The Marietta Wastewater Department will be making a sanitary sewer repair in front of 751 Glendale Road on Tuesday. One lane of Glendale Road will be closed to allow for equipment and material access, signs will be posted. Repairs are expected to be completed by Friday evening, however they may extend into the following week. Please avoid the area if possible and drive with caution.
