WILLIAMSTOWN – Police are pursuing a suspect on foot who was seen leaving Williamstown Bank after police responded to a panic alarm.

The call came in around 10:45 this morning. A responding officer saw a man in a mask leaving the bank.

Early reports say the suspect was wearing a gray flannel coat over a lighter gray hoodie, blue jeans, and had on a mask which looked like an elderly person. The suspect may also have been wearing a blue hat. Williamstown Police Chief Shawn Graham said the man entered the bank and lifted his shirt to show a gun in his waistband. He then fled on foot. Police are calling the incident a robbery but haven’t disclosed what sum of money was taken.

The Williamstown Police Department is in pursuit. Other law enforcement units are responding to the area and the Marietta Police Department is monitoring traffic on the Ohio side of the Williamstown Bridge. The bank is temporarily closed.
