Newport Water Board meeting will be today

The next Newport Water Board monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. today at the district office. Petitions are also available for the yearly election of board members; questions, contact Newport Water and Sewer Superintendent Steve Eddy at 740-473-1224.

County Genealogical Society meets Friday

The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will be meeting at noon Friday at the home of Don and Sharon Gardner for the annual Christmas potluck dinner. The Gardner’s address is 1645 County Road 9, Marietta. The Gardners will furnish beverages, rolls, and meat. Everyone attending should include a donation of food for the Marietta Community Food Pantry.

Beverly Post will have public breakfast

The Beverly Post 389 of the American Legion is sponsoring a public breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the post home on Fifth Street. The cost is $7 for adults or $3 for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit the communities American flag displays in Beverly and Waterford.

Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday

Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave. will have its annual “Breakfast with Santa” from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The menu will include eggs, pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. This is a free breakfast, but donations will be accepted.

Sewer repairs at Greene and Colegate

The Marietta Wastewater Department will be making a sanitary sewer tap in front of 910 Greene St. at the intersection with Colegate Drive today, weather permitting. The northbound through lane of Greene Street will be closed to allow access of equipment and material. Signs will be posted. The work is expected to be completed by Friday evening, however it may extend into the following week. Please avoid the area if possible.
