Drumming workshop at Riverside Artists

Lawrence Greene of Athens will be doing a Drumming Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 13 at Riverside Artists Gallery, 219 Second St. Marietta. The cost will be $12. This class will focus on traditional West African rhythms that are played by Ugata: Drum and Dance. The main drums used are djembes, so bring one if you have it. This tradition always focuses on the djun djun drums (bass drums which will be there to learn from). Other drums will be provided too. New students and returners are welcome. Frontier BOE will hold meeting Wednesday

A special board meeting for Frontier Local Schools Board of Education is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, following the organizational meeting at 6:45 p.m., to approve a resolution to transfer the local share of the co-funded OFCC project. The meeting will be held in the high school library.

Men Cook event will be held on Feb. 10

The third annual Washington County Men Cook event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Marietta Shrine Club. Proceeds will again benefit the United Way 2-1-1 service. This service connect those in need with organizations that can help.

MOVP presents ‘Always…Patsy Cline’

Mid Ohio Valley Players in Marietta, will present “Always…Patsy Cline” by Ted Swindley on Jan. 19, 20, 26, 27, Feb. 2, 3 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. The show is based on a true story about legendary country singer Patsy Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Tickets are available at MOVP.org, the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Marty’s Print Shop and at the box office prior to each show.

Financial workshops at the O’Neill Center

The O’Neill Center is sponsoring financial workshops, beginning Jan. 12 at 9 a.m. This five week set of workshops is presented by Kim Luft, financial advisor for Edward Jones. Enjoy a cup of coffee and brunch while increasing your financial knowledge. During this series of classes participants will get binders and certificates of completion, as they go along.
