Earth Day celebration is planned in Marietta
Marietta’s 19th annual Community Earth Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Armory Square. This is a free event for all ages, hosted by Peoples Bank and the Marietta Area Recycling Center. There will be green technologies, environmental displays and demonstrations, hands-on activities, recycling ideas and more. There will be a musical performance by High School Kids that Rock from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, raptors sponsored by Kiwanis, Union Ridge Wildlife Center visit with hawks, Sweet Gum Ball Contest and Trash-to-Art Contest. Prizes will be given in several age groups in each contest; bring entries for both contests to Armory Square for registration between 9:30 and 10 a.m. April 21. The contests are for people of all ages.
Family & Children First Council meets
The next Washington County Family & Children First Council meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Family & Children First office, 202 Davis Ave.

Belpre BOE will meet at 7 p.m. today
The Belpre City Schools Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Stone Administration Building/Early Learning Center.
Committees of Warren BOE will meet today
The Learning, Instruction and Assessment Committee of the Warren Local Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. today at the Warren Administration Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent. The Operations Committee meeting of the board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. today at the administration office.
Community luncheon planned for Wed.
A community luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barlow Presbyterian Church located at Ohio 550 and Warrior Drive. The menu will be pork chops and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, salad, corn, rolls and dessert.
Barlow Bluebells Garden Club meeting
The Barlow Bluebells Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Barlow Library. This month’s speaker will be Marcus McCartney, Washington County Extension educator.
Genealogical Society to present program
The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. April 21 in the lower level meeting room of the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St., Marietta. The speaker will be Wesley Clark, who will speak about “The Clarks of Marietta; Not Just Potters.” Visitors are always welcome at the meetings and free parking is available on the street or in the adjacent parking lot. The facility is handicapped accessible.
