Fearing Twp. VFD ice cream social June 9

The Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual ice cream social starting at 4 p.m. June 9 at the fire station located at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. Baked steak or chicken dinners will be served. There will also be ice cream, sandwiches, a country store, bingo, music by “Big D Karaoke,” a bounce house, a dilly dunker and games for children.

Fire auxiliary plans ice cream social Sat.

The Grandview Fire Auxiliary Ice Cream Social will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday beside the fire department and city building on Grandview Avenue in New Matamoras. There will be a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and gun raffle. Ice cream, hot dogs, sloppy joes, chips and soft drinks will be for sale. There will also be corn hole. Proceeds benefit the Grandview Fireman’s Festival to be held Aug. 4 in Ferguson Park on Grandview Avenue and Ohio 7.

Library will host stop motion workshop

The Barlow Library will be hosting a “Stop Motion Animation Workshop” presented by Alex Thomas & Friends from 2 to 4 p.m. June 6. Each participant will create their own custom animation and receive a free DVD of their animation. The workshop is for ages 8 and up. This is a free event, space is limited and sign up is required by calling 740-678-0103 .

Rabies shots for dogs, cats available

Rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats will be available from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 9 at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. The cost is $10 per animal. Dogs must be on a leash. Cats must be in carriers. All animals must be at least 12 weeks old.

Pasta dinner will be in church fellowship hall

There will be a pasta dinner fundraiser for the Washington-Morgan Community Action Secret Santa Program from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church, 232 Third St., Marietta.

The meal includes a choice of meat sauce or vegetarian sauce on pasta, salad, bread, dessert and drink. To-go containers will also be provided for takeout meals. Tickets are $8 or $4 for children under the age of five. Tickets will be sold at the door and at Washington-Morgan Community Action, 218 Putnam St. There will also be a comforter raffle, silent auction and a country store.
