Program for families with 10-14 year olds

Family & Children First is sponsoring a fall session of the Strengthening Families 10-14 Program. The program, for parents and youth ages 10-14, is a parent, youth, and family skills-building curriculum designed to build family strengths; strengthen parenting skills; and prevent teen substance abuse and other behavior problems. The seven-week session is free, with dinner and child care provided, along with transportation assistance. The fall session will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 25 through Nov. 6 at the Ely Chapman Center in Marietta. For more information and to register, call 740-376-7081. BrAva Family Fun Day planned for Sept. 16

BrAva Family Fun Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at Muskingum Park in Marietta. This celebration is all about local children with cancer. It is a time for families to get together, have fun, offer support, and for these children to see they are not alone. There will be free lunch, bouncy houses, petting zoo, carnival games and so much more. This is free to the community.

Belpre Area Churches sponsor annual event

The sixth annual “The Gathering Event” will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at Civitan Park. The event is sponsored by Belpre Area Churches. Everything is free — free food, games, music and more.

MOVP will hold youth theater auditions

The Mid-Ohio Valley Players will hold auditions for the youth theater production of “The Little Women of Orchard House,” based on the book by Louisa May Alcott. Auditions are open to any interested youth in grades six through 12. Students outside of these grade levels will not be permitted to audition. Auditions will be at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 23, 24 and 25 at Players Theatre, 229 Putnam St. in Marietta. Performances will be Dec. 7, 8 and 9.

“Little Women of Orchard House” is not a musical; there are many fun characters. There is no prep work required.

Ballroom dancing to be offered at the O’Neill

Ballroom Dancing is coming to the O’Neill Center. Ballroom dance lessons will begin from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10. John Polasko will provide the instruction. The class will begin with the basic waltz and cha-cha steps and go from there. Join in the fun, make some new friends and have lots of fun doing it.
