A “Brand New Beginner” Ballroom Dance Class will be starting at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and will continue for 10 weeks at the Betsey Mills Club gym. Class will be taught by instructor Bill Held and assisted by Sue Montera. The cost is $100 per couple for 10 hours of group classes. A partner is required.

An educational workshop on how to become a board member is being held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the O’Neill Center, 333 Fourth St., Marietta. Nonprofits LEAD (a program of Marietta College) will provide training on nonprofit board member roles, responsibilities and legal duties.  This session is led by Amy Elliott, nonprofit LEADS director, Marietta College. The first planning meeting for the fifth annual Christmas Day Feat in Marietta will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in the first floor fellowship hall of the Marietta First Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Fourth and Wooster streets.  Returning teams and new volunteers are invited to the one-hour meeting. Volunteers are need to be delivery drivers, delivery coordinators, kitchen helpers, servers, hospitality staff, clean up crews, cooks and to help with publicity and social media and posters distribution, pre-event preparations, meat carvers, bakers and to help soliciting donations for all the food items.

The Reno Water & Sewer District will hold its next regularly scheduled board meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at the the Reno Water building, 170 Mount Tom Road, Marietta. The meeting is open to the public.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Mary DeGenaro will be the keynote speaker for the Washington County Republican Party’s 2018 Reagan Dinner on Sept. 27 at the Marietta Shrine Club. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a reception, followed by dinner at 6 p.m., a live dessert auction, featuring delectables prepared by local candidates and elected officials, and Justice DeGenaro’s keynote address. Local candidates up for election in November, as well as many elected officials, will also be on hand to greet guests. Tickets for the event are $40 per person and can be purchased from any GOP Executive Committee member by emailing or by calling GOP Headquarters at 740-371-7002. RSVP deadline is Sept. 24.
