The Mid-Ohio Valley Players will present “Harmony Romances” by Ron Hill, Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 23 and 30 at 3 p.m. Hill will be in attendance on Sept. 22. The show is rated PG. Tickets are $7, $10 and $12 and are available at, the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau Marty’s Print Shop and the theater box office prior to each show.

The hilarious ladies who make up Harmony Church’s funeral committee are back in this side-splitting sequel to “The Ladies of Harmony.” This time, the church ladies are in charge of planning a wedding instead of a funeral. On the day of the wedding, the groom suffers a major spastic colon flare-up and disappears into the church’s bathroom. Now it’s up to the church ladies to find a way to get him out, before he misses his own wedding. Th eplay is directed by Rod Poling.

The next Washington County Family & Children First Council meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Washington County Family and Children First office, 202 Davis Ave.

The Washington County Democratic Party will host its annual Fall Dinner on Sept. 29 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 312 Franklin St., in Marietta. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with, dinner at 6 p.m. Speakers and special guests include Kathleen Clyde, candidate for Secretary of State, as well as local and statewide candidates. Tickets are $30 per person. There will be a cash bar, country store and raffles. Reservations required are required by calling 740-373-7715 or 740-516-4911.

The Barlow Fair Board announces that membership tickets for 2018 are now on sale. A membership ticket entitles the bearer to four days of admission. Petitions to run for director are available as well. The election will be held on Sept. 28 at the fair board office on the fairgrounds.

To be eligible for a membership ticket you need to be 18 years old and a Washington County resident. Membership tickets can only be issued to the individual who is paying for it and cannot be issued to a business or other entity. The ticket also entitles the holder to vote at the annual election and to hold any office in the society. Petitions to run for office and membership tickets are available by calling Pat Amrine at 740-516-0050

Completed petitions must be turned in to Amrine no later than 6 p. m. Sept. 22.

A “Brand New Beginner” Ballroom Dance Class will be starting at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and will continue for 10 weeks at the Betsey Mills Club gym. Class will be taught by instructor Bill Held and assisted by Sue Montera. The cost is $100 per couple for 10 hours of group classes. A partner is required.
