Ohio Supreme Court Justice Mary DeGenaro will be the keynote speaker for the Washington County Republican Party’s 2018 Reagan Dinner on Sept. 27 at the Marietta Shrine Club. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a reception, followed by dinner at 6 p.m., a live dessert auction, featuring delectables prepared by local candidates and elected officials, and Justice DeGenaro’s keynote address. Local candidates up for election in November, as well as many elected officials, will also be on hand to greet guests. Tickets for the event are $40 per person and can be purchased from any GOP Executive Committee member by emailing rightinside@suddenlink.net or by calling GOP Headquarters at 740-371-7002. RSVP deadline is Monday. Due to catering requirements, tickets are pre-sale only and will not be available for purchase at the door.

Hope Bible Church of Reno is sponsoring a “Hope Rally” for the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding areas. Each evening there will be special singing from various groups and an inspirational message from Evangelist Rodney Keister. This event is free and open to the public. The event will take place from Oct. 10 to 14 on the Armory Lawn, located at 241 Front St., Marietta. On Wednesday through Saturday the event will start at 7 p.m. On Sunday there will be an event at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. A community meal will follow the Sunday afternoon service. Bring a dish to share and a lawn chair, as limited seating will be available.

Dr. Toni DeVore will return to the O’Neill Center at 5 p.m. Monday with a presentation on the Harvest Moon. She will be explaining the phases of the moon, the Harvest Moon and all the different names and meanings of the moon. Participants may be able to see some of these features on the moon during this program. Call 740-373-3914 to show interest for attendance or for information.

Education Works, SEO, an education advocacy group, will hold a town hall meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the American Legion Hall located at Seventh and Wooster streets in Marietta. The meeting which is free and open to the public will feature candidates for the 95th Ohio House District Don Jones (R ) and Dan Milleson ( D). Both Jones and Milleson are from Harrison County. The 95th Ohio House District includes the Third Ward in Marietta , Devola, Reno and eastern Washington County as well as Carroll, Harrison, Noble and parts of Belmont counties.

The Col. Jesse Hildebrand historical marker dedication will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #67 Hall, 161 Front St., Marietta. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #67 in association with the Civil War Round Table of the Mid-Ohio Valley will recognize the Civil War service of Colonel Jess Hildebrand, 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, with the dedication of a historical marker in his honor. Hildebrand was an early member of I.O.O.F. Lodge #67 and served as its secretary. The historic lodge hall is handicapped accessible and will be open to the public following this event and light refreshments will be served.
