The Belpre City Schools Board of Education will hold a special board meeting at 4 p.m. today at the Stone Administration Building/Early Learning Center. The purpose of the meeting is to welcome the new superintendent to the district. No other business will be conducted.

The Washington County Board of Elections will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

The regular December meeting of the Fort Frye Local Schools Board of Education has been changed to 1 p.m. Thursday at Salem-Liberty Elementary School.

There will be a Finance Committee meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday at Salem-Liberty Elementary.

The 3-Dog Nights of Christmas, a benefit concert for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, featuring Moon & the Shiners and special guest Colton Settle will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Over the Moon Pub & Pizza in downtown Marietta. Admission is free but pet lovers are asked to donate a bag of Purina Dog Chow at the door or at the HSOV.

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, is looking to enroll additional seniors living in Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties for its Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

Seniors 60 and older making less than 130 percent of the current Federal Poverty Guidelines are encouraged to apply. The program provides monthly food boxes to those who are eligible.

On April 23, the Ohio State University Master Gardener Volunteers of Washington County are taking their 35th Gardening Road Show to Inniswood Metro Park, Westerville and Oakland Nursery, New Albany. Lunch will be on your own at Whole Foods in Columbus. The $65 registration fee includes bus transportation, snacks and drinks while on the bus, driver gratuity and educational handouts.
