The next Washington County Family & Children First Council meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Washington County Children Services training room, 204 Davis Ave.

The Washington County Democratic Women’s Club will meet on March 28 at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at noon. All women are welcome.

The Washington County Historical Society will host its annual meeting and program on Marietta’s birthday, April 7, in the Lafayette Hotel ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. The program will feature a panel of speakers who worked closely with the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough as he researched and visited sites in the Marietta area for his new book, “The Pioneers.” Tickets are $35 for members, $45 for non-members and must be purchased by March 29. American Legion Post 64 Baseball will sponsor Longaberger Basket Bingo on March 24 at Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta, featuring a country store, games and more. Doors open at noon and bingo starts at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $20; pre-sale tickets will be entered in a drawing. To register, call 740-374-9484. The public welcome.

Beverly American Legion Post 389 on Fifth Street will host an all-you-can-eat Lenten fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Fish will be deep-fried or baked, including fries and coleslaw for $8. Music to follow by Jessica Jo and Justin from 7 to 10 p.m. The public is welcome.

The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the lower level meeting room of the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St. in Marietta. A “sharing session” is planned so members are asked to bring an item, ancestor find or a genealogy problem to share with the group. Visitors are welcome.
