The Frontier Local Economic Development Association and the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority will hold a combined agency meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. April 16 at Newport Elementary School, 100 Harrison St. The meeting is open to the public and will provide an update on each agency’s ongoing activities. Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda will visit Washington County at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Ohio National Guard Armory. The new director will hear the ideas and concerns facing Washington county and Southeast Ohio.

Beverly American Legion Post 389 will host a public steak fry from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the post home, 114 Fifth St., Beverly. The band Plow Hippies will follow at 9 p.m. The meal will include steak, baked potato, salad, roll and coffee for $12. Other drinks may be purchased separately.

Tri-County Rural Water and Sewer District will be flushing hydrants April 1-12. Customers who have brown water are to flush their service line until water runs clear.

The Evergreen Arts & Humanities Series at Washington State Community College will present “An Evening of Bluegrass” with the band Almost Famous at 7:30 p.m. April 6 in Graham Auditorium. Admission is free; reservations are not required, seating will be first come, first served. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The Marietta Shrine Club will host the GoPacks Top Chef Challenge to fight food insecurity from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. Local chefs will display their skills and create original recipes. There will also be culinary-themed live and silent auctions. The cost is $25 per person; tables for eight are available. Purchase tickets at The Cook’s Shop on 180 Front St., Marietta, or online at gopacks4kids.org/events.
