In collaboration with Hidden Marietta, Marietta Main Street will host a Hidden Places, Secret Spaces tour from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The tour will offer the unique opportunity to go inside the normally off-limits locations of some of Front Street’s largest historic buildings, including The Armory, McKenna’s Market, Ketter Block, Plumber & Pipe Fitters, Stanley & Grass and Mahone’s. Proceeds benefit Marietta Main Street.

The Oak Grove Explorers 4-H Club will host the ninth annual 5K Run/Walk for Hervida June 1 at 8 a.m., starting at Oak Grove Christian School, 535 BF Goodrich Road, Marietta. Pre-registration is $12 and must be postmarked by Friday; registration postmarked Saturday and later is $15. T-shirts are available by pre-registration only. Registration forms are available via facebook.com/5krunwalkhervida/. Day-of registration is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Proceeds from the event benefit Hervida 4-H Camp.

Chapter 52 of the Disabled American Veterans will host a free Memorial Day picnic at 1 p.m. May 27 at 835 DAV Road, just north of Exit 6 on I-77 in Whipple. The event will feature food, games and a variety of live music played by Tom Roddey, Roger Kimberly and Bruce Haas. No alcohol will be present.

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third St., will host an African drum workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday conducted by master drummer Lawrence Greene. The Kiwanis Club of Marietta’s Storybook Park will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1. The event will be held in front of The Armory on Front Street. A variety of books will be read to children with the goal of encouraging reading. Children will get a sticker when they visit each story; if they receive three stickers, they get a book and a chance to win a prize.
