First Congregational Church, 318 Front St., Marietta, will hold a Strawberry Festival Fundraiser on Sunday. The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes hot dogs, hot chicken or egg salad sandwiches, chips, a drink and strawberry or peach shortcake. The event will also feature live entertainment and baked goods, jellies and strawberries for sale. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 7 and under.

The Marietta Memorial Day Parade will take place May 27 beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will form at Muskingum Park on Front Street and continue down Putnam Street, Fifth Street and Wooster Street, and end at Oak Grove Cemetery where a ceremony will be held. Lunch will be provided by American Legion Post 64 and the VFW Post 5108. Transportation will be provided by the Washington County Veterans Service Commission for veterans that need a ride in the parade.

The Fort Frye Local Schools finance committee will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in the superintendent’s office, located at Beverly-Center Elementary School, 510 Fifth St., Beverly.

The Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual ice cream social June 1 beginning at 4 p.m. at Salem-Liberty Elementary School, located on Ohio 821. Baked steak or chicken dinners will be available, as well as a country store, bingo, a bounce house, games, a raffle and live entertainment by Tunnel Hill Bluegrass Band. Coronation of candidates will start at 7:30 p.m.

Marietta High School will hold its annual Senior Recognition Assembly at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium. The Class of 2019 will march in caps and gowns for this ceremony. Various scholarships, awards and special honors will be presented to the students. Parents and community members are invited to attend.

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third St., will host an African drum workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday conducted by master drummer Lawrence Greene.
