Belpre Senior Center invites the public to meet the Marietta Health System new family medicine residents on July 12 at 12:30 p.m. A lunch will be provided by Cedar Grove Assisted Living. Salem, Aurelius and Liberty precincts will now vote at the Lower Paw Paw Church of Christ located at 9660 State Route 821 in Lower Salem. The church may be reached by phone at 740-585-8205. Postcards were mailed to voters notifying them of the change on June 27. The Washington Co. Board of Elections is also hiring new poll workers. The Marietta 4th of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fourth and Butler streets. The route will follow Fourth Street, Putnam Street, Second Street, Butler Street and Front Street before ending at the Ohio National Guard Armory. There will be a guest speaker, a salute to veterans and founders and a Civil War cannon demonstration. A lunch/BBQ will be held at the American Legion Post 64 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All are welcome; guests are encouraged to bring any veterans, widows or dependents seeking information about VA benefits.
Tunnel United Methodist Church at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road will host a free community meal featuring taco salad and sloppy joes July 11 from 5 to 6 p.m. The public is welcome. Oak Grove Recreation Center, 535 BF Goodrich Road, will hold its ninth annual car show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21 featuring cars, trucks and motorcycles. The first 25 entries will receive a dash plaque. There will be music, food, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds support the recreation park improvements.
