Barlow Presbyterian Church will hold a community luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The menu will include chip beef gravy and creamed chicken over biscuits, green beans and desserts. Barlow Presbyterian Church is located at Ohio 550 and Warrior Drive.

The Washington County Health Department will hold a special Board of Health meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday. It will be in our conference room at 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. The purpose of the meeting is to finish the regular business agenda items not covered at the regularly scheduled meeting and discuss the direction of the health department.

Ohio author and illustrator David Catrow will visit Belpre and Marietta Saturday, hosted by the Washington County Public Library. The first event will be at the Campus Martius Museum from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is required; visit the children’s department at the Marietta Library (615 Fifth St.) or call 740-373-1057, ext. 219. Cutler Community Center at 4550 Two Mile Run Road will hold its Third Sunday Dinner from noon to 3 p.m on July 21. This month’s dinner is hosted by the Cutler Men and the meal will include hamburgers and hotdogs, a drink and dessert. Meals are $7 for adults or $4 for children and all proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.

Washington-Morgan Community Action is now taking applications for backpacks and school supplies for children attending kindergarten through 12th grade. Applicants may apply at the agency office located at 218 Putnam St., Marietta, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Families must be at or under 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify. Applicants must bring proof of household income for 30 days, proof of county residency, name of school attending in the fall, grade the child will attend, proof of child’s age and Social Security cards of all household members.
