St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at 401 Scammel St., Marietta, will host its 18th annual Community Give-Away Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20. The congregation will be donating slightly used items to be given away for free to those in the community in need. Items include toys, household goods, clothes, books, shoes and more. Everyone is welcome.

A special meeting for the Frontier Local school board is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday in the Frontier High School library. The purpose of this meeting is to hire a superintendent and approve other personnel changes.

The Marietta City school district will have a special board meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the board office, 111 Academy Drive. The meeting is a working session with the Ohio School Board Association and will cover board directives and evaluations of superintendent and treasurer.

The Washington County Republican Women’s Club has invited the county’s GOP President Mike Webber to present information about the Convention of States movement Sept 9. All Republican women (and men) are invited. Lunch will served at noon, followed by the meeting at First Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall, 301 Fourth St., Marietta.

The Barlow Library will host a program presented by Northwestern Mutual, “Financial Planning 101.” at 6 p.m. Sept. 10. It will cover demographics from young professionals to retirees. Topics covered will include basic planning, budgeting, investing, debt and insurance. This a free program open to the public. Registration is requested by calling 740-678-0103.
