Up ’til Dawn raises $600 for St. Jude

It’s not hard to be motivated to raise money and awareness for a cause when it’s one like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The campus organization, Up ’til Dawn, which is student run and organized, has recently stepped their dedication up to a new level.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the executive board paired up with The Original Pizza Place on Second Street to kick off a fundraising semester. The students helped bus tables, greet customers, while collecting receipts and getting 15 percent of the profit at the end of the night for their hard work. With the help of community and campus members, the students were able to raise $153 in five hours.

The hard work continued on Sunday, Feb. 24, when the organization hosted its 3rd annual spaghetti dinner at First Baptist Church. At a price of $5 all-you-can-eat, it was impossible for people not to rush through the doors. The dinner ran from 4 to 8 p.m. and raised $447.

To help this group, go to Don Drumm Stadium on March 23 for the 2nd annual Strides for St. Jude 5k Walk/Run. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the race kicks off at 8 a.m. To obtain an entry form or for race questions, you can contact Nicole Schaly at nms002@marietta.edu.
