Students wanted for math academy
Marietta College’s Kids Academy for Mathematics is looking for students currently enrolled in Pre-K through seventh grade to consider attending the one-week program this summer.
This is the third year the college has hosted the Kids Academy, which is taught by area mathematics teachers who are part of the Academy for Excellence in Math in Science Education. It will be held on Marietta’s campus from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. from June 23 to 27.
Parents interested in enrolling their child must fill out an application by Monday, May 5. However, applications received by Friday, April 4, will receive an early registration discount of $35. Regular registration is $40. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
Program Director Elaine O’Rourke said there are a limited number of scholarships available to cover the cost of the registration fee. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must have their school principal complete and sign the area at the bottom of the application form.
Application forms can be picked up in Marietta College’s Department of Education in Erwin Hall, in the office at all area schools or on the web at www.marietta.edu/~educ/. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
