Colony Film Festival winners announced

Seven awards were presented at the Colony Film Festival. Of the 18 films screened at the film festival with films received from New York to Los Angeles and Iowa to Tennessee, all of the awards went to filmmakers in the Ohio/West Virginia region.

Best Student Film

Going Dark: The Final Days of Film Projection, by Jason Gwynn and Jay Sheldon – Directors (Oklahoma- formerly WV)

Best Local Film

Gone Beyond, by Aaron Dunbar – Writer, Director and Animator (Lowell, Ohio)

Best Short Film

Trace Around Your Heart, by Ian Nolte – Writer, Director (Huntington, W.Va.)

Best Documentary

Going Dark: The Final Days of Film Projection, by Jason Gwynn and Jay Sheldon – Directors (Oklahoma-formerly WV)

Best Animation

Gone Beyond, by Aaron Dunbar – Writer, Director and Animator (Lowell, Ohio)

Best Feature Film

Seven Deadly Words, by Doc Benson – Writer, Director, Producer (Cairo, W.Va.)

Best of Fest

Trace Around Your Heart, by Ian Nolte – Writer, Director (Huntington, W.Va.)

Awards were created at WASCO for the Colony Film Festival. Best Student Film and Best Local Film received $250 in prize money and Best of Fest received $500.

The featured speaker was Will Wedig, and the workshop was presented by Andy Hall, David Roberts, and Joe Nanashe.
